Cam's Kids

Charity and Fundraising

The Dalhousie University chapter of Cam’s Kids is a student-led branch of the nation-wide Cam’s Kids organization, which is affiliated with Kids Help Phone. Our society is dedicated to raising awareness about youth mental health, reducing stigma, and supporting students as they navigate the challenges of university life. We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive space where students can get involved in mental health advocacy, community outreach, and campus initiatives that promote wellbeing. Anyone is welcome to join our ambassador program, regardless of background, program, or previous experience. Our society represents Dalhousie students who are passionate about mental health awareness, peer support, and creating a more compassionate campus community. What makes Cam’s Kids unique is our focus on student-led mental health advocacy through both on-campus initiatives and broader community involvement. We recognize that university students often experience stress, anxiety, loneliness, and academic pressure, especially during difficult times such as exam season and the winter months. Through our presence on campus and online, we hope to remind students that they are not alone and that support and resources are available. Some of our main initiatives include distributing mental health resources on campus, promoting Kids Help Phone services and events, sharing mental health advice and resources through social media, and participating in community-based outreach such as events with Ronald McDonald House. These initiatives have been carried out successfully in previous years and have allowed us to support both Dalhousie students and the wider Halifax community. Moving forward, our goals are to continue increasing mental health awareness, strengthening student engagement, collaborating with community organizations as well as other Dalhousie societies, and creating meaningful initiatives that support mental health and wellbeing.
