Dalhousie Atlantic Canoe and Kayak Society

The Dal Atlantic Canoe & Kayak Society (DACKS) aims to create a paddling community for Dalhousie associates of all skill levels by leading events on flatwater, whitewater and the Atlantic. We aim to guide backcountry trips in locations such as Kejimkujik and Prospect Bay, as well as smaller scale events on the Northwest Arm and the Dalplex Pool. We will collaborate with surrounding paddling organizations as well as Indigenous communities and organizations to run educational sessions and highlight events and successes within the paddling industry. We aim to foster a welcoming and supportive environment and to provide opportunities to connect students with the greater Dal and Nova Scotia paddling communities. We hope this society provides a respite from the stress of academics and motivation to reconnect with the natural environment. Lastly, we hope to share the history of Nova Scotian watersheds through the emphasis of the presence of Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities.
