Dalhousie Chinese Students and Scholars Association (DCSSA)

The Dalhousie Chinese Students and Scholars Association (DCSSA) is a student-run society that supports Chinese students at Dalhousie and promotes cultural diversity on campus. As one of the largest international groups at Dal, Chinese students are an important part of the community. DCSSA helps them feel at home by offering peer support, cultural connection, and a welcoming space to thrive both academically and socially. Throughout the year, DCSSA organizes events like orientation, peer mentorship, cultural celebrations (such as Lunar New Year), workshops, and info sessions. We also work closely with the Dalhousie International Centre, taking part in their newcomer programs and international events to ensure Chinese students are well-connected with resources across campus. Members are actively involved in running the society—from planning events to mentoring others—creating a strong sense of community and leadership. Beyond campus, DCSSA partners with the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy and local Chinese organizations to connect students with career resources, emergency support, and community opportunities. By linking Chinese students to each other, to Dalhousie, and to the broader community, DCSSA helps them build meaningful connections and feel confident navigating life in Halifax.
