Health and Wellness
The Dalhousie Kinesiology Society (Kin Society) exists to support, represent, and connect students within the Department of Kinesiology at Dalhousie University. The society’s overarching goal is to promote an inclusive and engaging student community by fostering relationships between students, faculty, administration, and the broader Faculty of Health. Through academic, social, athletic, and wellness-focused initiatives, the Kin Society helps enrich the student experience while encouraging collaboration, leadership, and school involvement across all years of study. The society also plays an important role in easing students' transition into university life and creating a welcoming environment where all members feel supported and valued. The Kin Society organizes a wide range of events, activities, and initiatives throughout the academic year that are designed to strengthen community engagement and enhance student life within kinesiology. These include social events, fundraising initiatives, wellness and physical activity events, academic communication, and collaborations with other societies and organizations within Dalhousie. The society acts as a coordinator between kinesiology students and faculty members, ensuring students remain informed about opportunities, events, and important departmental information. Through regular meetings, social media outreach, and student representation from every year level, the society provides students with opportunities to contribute ideas, participate in planning, and take on leadership roles within the Dalhousie community. The Kin Society is important because it helps create a strong sense of belonging and community within the kinesiology program. By promoting inclusion, student engagement, and professional development, the society enhances both the academic and personal experiences of its members. Student involvement is central to the society’s success, with members actively volunteering at events, attending meetings, and representing their peers throughout the year. The society is committed to providing a positive, supportive, and accessible environment for all kinesiology students while contributing to a dynamic and connected student community at Dalhousie University.
