Computer Science
The Dalhousie Machine Learning Society (DMLS) is the main group on campus for anyone interested in AI and machine learning. Our goal is to give students a place to actually practice what they learn in class. At Dalhousie, we act as a central, welcoming spot where students can share resources, help each other out, and figure out how to actually build things with ML. Students get involved mostly by working on technical projects together. Members team up to get hands-on research experience, practice coding, and attend events to improve their skills. Whether someone is completely new to AI or already has plenty of experience, they can find mentors, join study groups, or step up to help run the society. DMLS is important because machine learning is a massive field, and it can be pretty overwhelming to try and learn it all alone. We give students a relaxed, focused environment to get comfortable with AI before they graduate. More than just putting a project on a resume, we are here so students can make friends who match their vibe, find good mentors, and grow in the ML field together.
