Computer Science
The Dalhousie Pride in Tech Society (PriTS) is a student-led organization dedicated to supporting, connecting, and empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ students in the Faculty of Computer Science and related technology fields. PriTS provides a welcoming and inclusive community where students can build meaningful connections, share experiences, and access resources that support their academic, professional, and personal growth. Through social events, networking opportunities, mentorship, and collaboration with faculty, industry, and community partners, PriTS seeks to foster a sense of belonging for queer students pursuing careers in technology. PriTS plays an important role in the Dalhousie student community by increasing the visibility of 2SLGBTQIA+ voices in computing and creating opportunities for engagement both within and beyond the Faculty of Computer Science. The society serves as a platform for students to participate in discussions about equity, inclusion, and representation in technology while also celebrating the contributions of queer individuals in STEM. Members are actively involved in shaping the direction of the society through events, initiatives, leadership opportunities, and community outreach. As technology continues to shape society, diverse perspectives are essential to building inclusive and innovative solutions. PriTS exists to ensure that 2SLGBTQIA+ students have a supportive network, opportunities for professional development, and a voice within the Faculty and broader technology community. By fostering community, encouraging leadership, and promoting visibility, PriTS contributes to a more welcoming and equitable environment for current and future students.
