Dalhousie Sailing Team (DST)

The Dalhousie Sailing Team is a competitive and recreational sports society operating out of the Northwest Arm. We represent Dalhousie University at collegiate regattas across Canada, primarily within the Canadian Intercollegiate Sailing Association (CICSA). Within the student community, the team serves as a vital maritime hub, bridging campus life with Nova Scotia's coastal heritage and providing an accessible gateway for students to engage with the ocean and local yacht clubs. Student members drive every aspect of the society, regardless of their prior experience. Seasoned sailors compete in high-stakes races, while newcomers build their skills through hands-on training. Beyond the water, members manage boat maintenance, plan regattas, fundraise, and hold executive leadership roles. This immersive structure makes the society important: it fosters athletic excellence while teaching critical life skills like leadership, rapid problem-solving, and resilience, all while building a tight-knit community on the Atlantic.
