Dalhousie Students' Pharmacy Society (DSPS)

The Dalhousie Student Pharmacy Society (DSPS) is the official student organization representing students enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program at Dalhousie University. Our primary mission is to support, advocate for, and enrich the academic, professional, and social experience of pharmacy students. We serve as a liaison between students, faculty, and external stakeholders, ensuring that the voices of our members are heard and that their needs are addressed. Through leadership, collaboration, and engagement, DSPS works to create an inclusive community that promotes both personal and professional development. DSPS plays a key role in the Dalhousie student community by planning and running a wide range of initiatives throughout the school year. Some of our biggest events include Orientation Week for incoming PharmD students, interprofessional Healthcare Mixers, Pharmacy Ball, and our annual Awards & Auction Night. We also provide opportunities for professional development through CAPSI (Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns) and encourage student involvement through a variety of leadership positions such as Vice President Academics, Vice President Charity and Public Relations, Athletic Directors, Social Directors, Social Media Coordinators, and other committee roles. In addition to events and leadership opportunities, DSPS advocates for students within the College of Pharmacy by organizing two Student Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings each year. These meetings allow class representatives to bring forward feedback, both positive and constructive, directly to the Directors of the College of Pharmacy. directly with the college’s leadership team, helping to improve the program based on student experience. DSPS helps students get the most out of their pharmacy school experience and encourages them to take an active role in shaping their education and the future of the profession.
