The Dalhousie Unity in Business Society (DUBS) is dedicated to fostering inclusivity, professional growth, and community engagement by creating authentic connections between students and businesses. Our mission is to unite the students and the community through opportunities for professional development, collaborative experiences, and meaningful involvement locally. Our vision is a future where students and local businesses unite to strengthen our community and economy through empowerment and active learning. Our society serves as a platform for students to expand their networks, develop real-world skills, and discover how collaboration between students and businesses can create stronger communities and lasting impact. By connecting education with experience, DUBS plays an important role in preparing students to become confident leaders, engaged citizens, and future professionals. At the core of DUBS are our six guiding pillars: education, empowerment, unity, community, authenticity, and advocacy. These pillars shape every initiative we create and define how we support our members. Education and empowerment drive us to provide students with opportunities to learn from professionals, build confidence, and gain practical insights beyond the classroom. Unity and community emphasize our commitment to bringing diverse students together while strengthening relationships with local businesses and organizations. Authenticity and advocacy ensure that we create genuine, inclusive spaces while championing meaningful causes that positively impact both our members and the broader Halifax community. These values come to life through DUBS’ three primary initiatives: professional development, collaborative events, and charity and advocacy. Our professional development initiatives connect students with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals who share knowledge, career advice, and valuable experiences. Through collaborative events, we create welcoming and engaging opportunities for students to connect with one another and with Halifax’s local businesses, fostering friendship, belonging, and community support. Finally, our charity and advocacy efforts inspire students to give back, create positive change, and develop as socially responsible leaders. Together, these initiatives make DUBS an essential part of the Dalhousie student experience by empowering students to grow, connect, and contribute both on campus and beyond.
