Our society is the women's rugby team for Dalhousie University on the Halifax campus. We allow all female-identifying students to play university-level rugby while being able to study at Dalhousie. We are a close-knit team who are all looking to improve our rugby skills and make connections with peers while at Dal. Students are members of the team and get the opportunity to practice with experienced coaches and play multiple games throughout the season. Our team is a Tier I sports club team at Dal, meaning that we are not a varsity team, but we are still competitive. We play other university club teams, including Acadia, University of New Brunswick, and Mount Allison. We also play other women's club teams around Nova Scotia, giving the team opportunities to play at varying skill and intensity levels. This allows us to have a large program and a wide variety of experience levels. Our season starts with a week-long training camp at the end of August and then we play from September into early November. In season, we have 3 practices and 1-2 gym sessions a week, along with games on the weekend. We also have fun team bonding events like team swims or trivia nights! Our society is the only opportunity for female-identifying students to play rugby while at Dal in Halifax. It is important to us that women are given the opportunities to continue with sports, and we provide rugby players the option to continue playing with a low barrier to entry. This also allows us to gain lots of new players, who can find a new interest or passion.
