Islamic Relief at Dalhousie (IRDal)

Culture and Religion

Islamic Relief at Dalhousie (IRDal) is a student-led chapter of Islamic Relief Canada, part of the wider global Islamic Relief network founded in 1984. As a branch of one of Canada's largest Muslim charitable organizations, IRDal works to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian crises affecting communities in distress around the world. Within the Dalhousie student community, our society provides students with meaningful opportunities to engage in charitable work, social justice initiatives, and community outreach through interactive fundraisers and educational events. Guided by the values of sincerity, compassion, excellence, social justice, and custodianship, IRDal helps foster a culture of empathy, service, and global responsibility on campus. Students are involved in all parts of the society, from organizing and promoting events to volunteering at fundraisers throughout the year. IRDal gives members opportunities to build leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills while making a real impact through humanitarian efforts. The society is important because it creates a space for students who are passionat about helping others and giving back to both local and global communities. It also helps bring students together around a shared goal of supporting people in need and encouraging positive change within and beyond the Dalhousie community.
