Music and Healing Society of Dalhousie (MHSD)

The Music and Healing Society of Dalhousie (MHSD) is a student-led collective dedicated to bringing live music to individuals who may not otherwise have access to it, including patients in hospitals, residents of long-term care facilities, and retirement homes. The society’s mission is to improve emotional well-being and foster community connection through the power of music, particularly for vulnerable populations experiencing illness, isolation, or reduced mobility. Each semester, MHSD organizes 3–4 live concerts at local care facilities, creating meaningful experiences that provide companionship, joy, and social engagement for community members and volunteers. In 2025 alone, MHSD performed for more than 180 patients, shared over 370 minutes of live music, and welcomed more than 50 new student volunteers. Students with all music capabilities are welcome!
